Woodstock 50 May Happen…And It Could be FREE

In a last bid effort to save Woodstock 50, organizers have apparently decided to make the entire event free.

According to sources involved with the festival, tickets will be released soon and completely free of charge– though the festival will encourage attendees to donate to various charitable causes. VIP tickets will reportedly still be sold at in an effort to pay for the festival. The move appears to be a last-minute attempt to ensure that artists still hold to the terms of their earlier contracts, despite having no legal obligation to do so. Dead & Company, Jay-Z and John Fogerty have all pulled out of the festival amid its relocation, with Fogerty even announcing a separate performance of his own at a competing the same weekend.

Woodstock 50 is now scheduled to take place August 16-18 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland — a venue with a capacity closer to a basketball arena than that of a massive festival.
