Metallica frontman James Hetfield says the band’s iconic Black Album changed their lives.

It wasn’t just that the record included smash hits like “Enter Sandman” and “Unforgiven” – Hetfield says once it came out, “the perception of the importance of Metallica changed greatly”.

Hetfield says from that day forward Metallica “became a household name” and “hopefully helped the world connect”.

Is the Black Album Metallica’s best, or just their most popular album? What made it such a smash hit?
