How Much Did “Yesterday” Pay To Get Rights To The Beatles’ Music?

If you’re going to make a movie about a world where the Beatles are only known to one person, you better feature their music. Which is exactly what the filmmakers did.

According to Billboard, securing the rights for the Fab Four’s most iconic tunes didn’t come cheap. Richard Curtis and Danny Boyle shelled out an estimated $10 million for the 17 tracks.

“Yesterday” features some of the Beatles biggest songs, including “Let It Be,” “Here Comes the Sun,” “All You Need Is Love,” “Hey Jude,” and “She Loves You,” sung by actor Himesh Patel.

Thankfully the flick is a hit, earning back $17 million of its $26 million budget on opening weekend.

What makes the Beatles music still enduring today?
