Coaches Forced A Teen To Eat Pizza Against His Religion, He Says. Now He’s Suing

Pizzas

A high school football player in Canton, Ohio who says coaches forced him to eat pizza covered with pepperoni grease against his religious beliefs is suing his former school district and coaches.

The lawsuit states the coaches knew the athlete doesn’t eat pork or pork residue as a member of the Hebrew Israelite religious faith, but that they ordered him to eat the pizza as a punishment for missing a workout — and indicated his spot on the team was at risk if he didn’t.

An attorney representing the coaches said the allegations are false.

The school board voted not to renew the contracts of four coaches after the alleged incident.

Do you think the young man should be awarded millions of dollars in damages? Have you heard other stories about “questionable” punishment techniques used by coaches?
