President Joe Biden has reportedly struck a deal with Senate Democrats to tighten eligibility requirements for the next round of stimulus checks.
Under the agreement, U.S. residents who make more than $75,000 a year — and couples who make more than $150,000 a year — will not receive a $1,400 payment, says White House press secretary Jen Psaki. The plan originally called for Americans who make between $80,000 and $100,000 a year to receive a partial payment.
Psaki says the previous plan’s promise to increase weekly unemployment benefits by $400 remains in place.
Has the pandemic been as hard on your financial situation as you feared it would be? Is it fair to exclude people who make more than $75,000 a year?
